Know Your Enemy: Rodent Control Facts
We see the biggest spike across the Treasure Valley from October through February, when rodents from the foothills and ag fields push indoors for warmth. A single pair of mice can produce 200+ offspring in a year, so a small problem in fall becomes a serious one by spring.

Identification
House mice are small (2 to 4 inches), gray-brown with large ears. Norway rats are larger (7 to 10 inches), brown with smaller ears. Roof rats are slender, black, and excellent climbers.

Do you clean up rodent droppings and contaminated insulation?

For small messes, air the space out first, wear gloves, soak the droppings with a mix of 1 part bleach to 10 parts water for about 5 minutes, then wipe them up with paper towels. Keep the broom and vacuum away from dry droppings, since sweeping or vacuuming can stir hantavirus into the air. For heavy contamination, we'll connect you with a trusted specialist.
How do I know if I have mice or rats?
